The Military Collection

A Permanent Exhibit

Mr. Bill English first organized the collection several years ago in a small room at the Wichita Falls Public Library. Today, the Military Collection resides in the Museum of North Texas History. Containing more than 3,000 items, this collection consists of photographs, flags, maps, books, uniforms, weapons and other items of interest.

Ranging from the Civil War to the current conflict, exhibits include Women in the Military, From Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, as well as an extensive library and uniform collection.

The centerpiece of the collection is the Iwo Jima Room. Many of the Iwo Jima survivors have donated their military memorabilia to the collection.
